Hosting an Annual Gathering

Carolyn Witham VP of Administration led an exchange of ideas (EOI) discussion for those interested in, discerning, or making plans for hosting a future Annual Gathering.  Carolyn emphasized that hosting a meeting is an Honorable SERVICE.  It is a lot of work, but it will also be a blessing to the host community.  Randy Poisel agreed commenting that from hosting 2 years ago that it “helped INKY regain momentum” in their VDC community.

Carolyn shared a document with an overview of hosting considerations covering the process, interface with the NLS board, location selection, and developing host committee teams.  She stated that the process should always begin with prayer, lots of it, and lots of discussion within the host region’s leadership.  There are lots of details and the NLS board is ready to help guide the planning process.  The group then discussed other considerations related to team size, challenges in contracting with venues, and fundraising requirements. Along the way, the NSL VPA and other board members have resources and experience to help host committees develop plans for a successful Annual Gathering.
