Thursday evening the NLS Executive Board members held a Townhall meeting to discuss the state of the movement, and engage in open dialogue with attendees about sustaining and growing the community.
Presidential Update
NLS President Brian Comeno gave a summary of the NLS Board accomplishments and projects from 2026. Brian pointed out that the first scholarship recipient, Aaron Colwick, will be giving the first forum talk on Friday morning. It was noted that due to generous donations, we will be giving out two scholarships this year. He spoke about the updates to the Google Drive and Website in keeping with our attempts to digitalize our ministry.
Challenges and Strategies for Growth
A major theme is the challenge of engaging pastors and several examples and suggestions were made, including trying to reach more seminarians. Several ways of reaching out to churches and pastors were discussed, including Brian personally visiting many different churches in his travels across the country. Jeanne Gaston, the Spiritual Director Support Chair spoke about trying to update the pastor’s video and said she would be sending out more information and inviting SDs to participate.
Financial Status and Fundraising
The board is pursuing a grant writing training to assist in obtaining additional funds to support our ministry, both at the local and national levels. More to come.
