There were about 25 people present. It was agreed that ‘outreach’ in your home secretariat may not be well defined. As our discussion covered both ideas and challenges, it was clear that as a 4th Day community, it is everyone’s responsibility to communicate. Basic recruitment for Via de Cristo may start in your home congregation, but there are many other ways to share our vision within your synod or region, as well as many other Cursillo groups from which to build community.
An immediate need for updated 4th Day databases seemed to be a common theme. Volunteer at your church to maintain an updated contact list of your 4th Day community. Forward this information to your secretariat. This helps your leaders communicate about upcoming weekends and Ultreya events through email, text, and social media. Do they want to receive notifications for upcoming events or serve on a team? Will they pray for a weekend? Provide transportation?
Invite everyone to attend your 4th Day events even if they have not attended a weekend. Make yourself available to anyone you have sponsored or anyone who is not active. Make yourself available to your congregation to answer questions about Via de Cristo. Reach out to younger people – they are also ready to experience and share what we do. Use social media as another avenue to invite and inspire others.
